Maple Syrup and Sugaring

Learn about the basic tools required to tap, and collect sap from a maple tree. Play through a scavenger hunt to find all the materials necessary to tap a tree and boil the sap to create Maple Syrup.

Depending on the time of season, students will be able to be part of tapping a tree in order to collect sap, bring it back to the holding container and learn how Maple Syrup is made at Dogwood.

Before having a small taste of the Maple sap, play a game to help understand and simulate how sap travels through trees in the spring and is then collected.
